Modification Mechanisms and Weather Resistance Principles of Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring
Strand woven bamboo flooring is manufactured using fast-growing Moso bamboo, processed through longitudinal strand assembly and high-pressure bonding. Its ability to overcome the traditional drawbacks of bamboo—such as susceptibility to mold and cracking—lies in the physical and chemical modifications applied during production:
1. High-Pressure Resin Impregnation of Fine Bamboo Strands
Compared to coarse strands, refined bamboo strands achieve a 42% higher resin uptake during impregnation. Polymer resins fully encapsulate the microscopic bamboo fibers, resulting in an exceptionally dense internal structure. Empirical data shows that strand woven flooring made from fine strands significantly outperforms coarse-strand products in terms of water absorption swelling rates and shear strength.
2. Patented 200°C High-Temperature Pyrolysis (Carbonization)
High-temperature pyrolysis at approximately 200°C directly decomposes the hydrophilic groups within the bamboo fiber's hemicellulose, thereby eliminating the physical basis for water-induced swelling.
Enhanced Dimensional Stability: Tests conducted under the national standard GB/T 30364 demonstrate that, following carbonization, the 24-hour water absorption thickness swelling rate of the strand woven bamboo drops by 53%, while internal bond strength increases by 13%.
Biological Decay Resistance: Natural Moso bamboo contains sugars and starches that make it vulnerable to fungal attack. High-temperature pyrolysis thoroughly destroys these nutrient sources for mold; combined with the cured phenolic resin, this elevates the material's decay resistance to the highest rating—Class I (Highly Durable).

Slip Resistance and Drainage Design for Wet Pool Environments
In pool areas, the combination of water films and sunscreen creates a high risk of slipping; thus, slip resistance is a critical safety requirement.
Based on testing using the Pendulum Method (CEN/TS 15676) and the Ramp Method (DIN 51130):
Dry-State Performance: Pendulum values reach USRV 55 (with specific ultra-high-density series reaching USRV 118), and the ramp slip resistance rating achieves R10. Wet-state performance: Flat-surface boards see their pendulum test value drop to USRV 29 when wet, posing a slip risk.
Physical texture solution
To effectively address wet-state slip resistance, heavy-duty bamboo decking typically features a reversible design with different profiles on each side (flat vs. grooved/wavy).
Large or fine wavy grooves offer excellent drainage: when stepped on by shoes or bare feet, surface water is rapidly displaced into the grooves, preventing the formation of a continuous, lubricating water film. The ribbed texture significantly increases friction, easily meeting high slip-resistance standards such as P5 or C.S.R. > 0.55.
Material selection recommendations for hotels:
High-risk areas: For areas subject to direct water splashing—such as pool steps, outdoor showers, and children's wading pools—installation with the wavy (ribbed) side facing up is strongly recommended.
Leisure areas: In zones such as lounge chair areas, transitional walkways, and shaded spaces, the flat side may be installed facing up to provide a more comfortable, warm, and pleasant feel under bare feet.
